Beam Detection System
A beam detection system uses projected optical beams to monitor large open volumes—warehouses, atria, sports halls and factories—where point detectors would be impractical. Icomply design, install and align reflective and end-to-end beam detectors to BS 5839 practice across the North West. From Stockport we survey mounting heights, building movement and sunlight paths so beams stay stable and false alarms stay low.

Correct alignment, bracket rigidity and contamination planning are everything with beams. We install, commission with obscuration tests, integrate to the fire panel and train staff on temporary isolation during dust-producing works. Service visits re-check alignment and clean optics so warehouse changes do not silently defeat detection.

Beam Detection System FAQ
Reflective or end-to-end beams?+
Reflective units need power at one end and suit many warehouses; end-to-end can suit very long ranges. We select after measuring the space.
Will forklifts set beams off?+
Poor siting can. We position beams above traffic where practical and set delay/sensitivity within manufacturer limits to reduce nuisance alarms.
Can beams work with high racking?+
Racking alters smoke behaviour and line of sight. We may combine beams with in-rack or aspirating options as the risk requires.
