About Air Handling Unit Certification
Looking for air handling unit certification support that stands up to audits, insurers and landlord compliance reviews? iComply inspect, test and document AHU-related electrical and smoke-control interfaces across the North West. We issue service certificates, actuator and control test records, and clear remedial schedules so facilities managers know exactly what is compliant and what needs attention.
Certification requirements vary by system role: comfort-only plant may need electrical installation or service records, while AHUs contributing to smoke control demand tighter testing against the fire strategy and standards such as BS 9991 and EN 12101 practice. We survey panels, drives, sensors, dampers and power supplies, record results and highlight defects with prioritised recommendations. Multi-site landlords can standardise reporting across estates for smoother board and insurance reviews. Based in Stockport, our engineers attend Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria. Book certification visits ahead of fire risk assessment renewals or after major plant changes.
- ●Inspection and testing aligned to the AHU’s safety role
- ●Service certificates and clear pass/fail recording
- ●Remedial schedules prioritised for risk and cost
- ●Support for fire strategy interfaces and insurer evidence

Air Handling Unit Certification FAQ
Is AHU certification a legal certificate like a CP12?+
There is no single universal ‘AHU certificate’ equivalent to landlord gas safety; documentation depends on electrical, maintenance and fire strategy obligations for your building type.
How often should AHUs be certified or tested?+
Follow manufacturer guidance, your fire risk assessment and any smoke-control maintenance regime. Many sites combine annual thorough checks with interim PPM visits.
Can you certify after a third-party install?+
We can inspect and test as-found plant and document results, noting any limitations where design information is incomplete.
