About AOV Actuator Installation
Looking for professional AOV actuator installation on roof lights, louvres or façade vents? iComply supply and fit smoke-control actuators for natural ventilation and AOV systems across the North West. Correct force rating, stroke, mounting and weather sealing keep vents opening reliably on command from the smoke control panel—critical for stair and corridor protection in apartment blocks and commercial buildings.
Failed or undersized actuators are a common reason AOVs fail annual tests. We assess vent weight, geometry and existing brackets, then install manufacturer-appropriate chain, rack or linear actuators with secure fixings, cable management and limit setup. Works include interface to the AOV control panel, polarity and run-time checks, and full open/close witnessing. Retrofit projects often replace obsolete 24 V actuators while reusing viable vents and weather lids where safe. Service contracts later cover lubrication checks, current draw and battery-backed operation. From Stockport we cover Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside with fixed quotes once vent counts and access methods are confirmed.
- ●Correct actuator selection for vent size, weight and stroke
- ●Mechanical fitment, weather sealing and tidy cable routes
- ●Electrical connection to AOV panels with full travel testing
- ●Replacement programmes for obsolete or seized actuators

AOV Actuator Installation FAQ
Can you replace actuators without changing the whole vent?+
Often yes, if the vent frame and free area remain compliant. We inspect hinges, seals and lids before recommending actuator-only replacement.
Do you work at height on roofs?+
Yes, with appropriate access equipment and RAMS. Safe roof access is planned into every quote.
Will actuators open on battery power?+
Life-safety AOVs are designed for standby power; we verify battery condition and load during commissioning and service visits.
