LD2 is commonly specified where a simple LD3 hallway-only approach is not enough. We survey storeys, loft conversions and open-plan layouts that change escape risk, fit interlinked detection where required, and commission so alarms are loud enough in bedrooms. Landlord packages cover multi-property portfolios with consistent standards and service records.

Category LD2 Fire Alarm FAQ
What is the difference between LD2 and LD3?+
LD3 covers escape routes only; LD2 adds high-risk rooms. Local housing standards and your risk assessment determine which is appropriate.
Do HMOs need LD2?+
Many larger or higher-risk HMOs require enhanced coverage. We check against licensing conditions and BS 5839-6 recommendations.
Are battery-only alarms acceptable?+
Grade and power supply depend on property type and risk. We specify mains-powered with backup where the standard and licensing expect it.
