About Dry Lining Around Steel
Dry lining around steel boxes in a beam or column with the board build-up a fire note requires, rather than a single skin to make it look finished.
Steel loses strength in heat. If the steel needs a fire protection, the board, the thickness and the fixings come from that specification. We do not wrap a universal beam in ordinary board and call it protected. Gaps at the wall and the ceiling are part of the detail. If nobody has specified the minutes, we ask before we board. The POA names the build-up. iComply quotes it from Stockport.
- ●Specification before any board
- ●Ordinary board is not fire protection
- ●Junctions at wall and ceiling included
- ●Written POA after a look — no catalogue £ figure

Dry Lining Around Steel FAQ
Is one layer of plasterboard enough?+
Only if that is the specified protection. Often it is not. We do not guess the minutes.
Do you paint the steel as well?+
Intumescent paint is a different system. If that is what the design says, boarding may be the wrong quote.
How is Dry Lining Around Steel priced?+
Price on application after we know the steel size and the protection specified. iComply does not publish a catalogue £ figure for this job.
