About EV Charger RCD Protection
EV charger RCD protection is the protective device on the charge-point circuit, chosen for BS 7671 Section 722 and the unit's instructions — not whatever spare RCD is already in the board.
Some chargers include a device and need a different upstream type. Some need the device in the board. We read the instructions and test the result. A wrong device is a fail, not a shortcut. If the board must change, that is quoted separately POA. Enquire with the charger model if you have already chosen one.
- ●Device type taken from Section 722 and the instructions
- ●Built-in charger protection accounted for
- ●Tested and recorded on the certificate
- ●POA if the board cannot accept the device
