Access control fire interface test
A fire interface test checks that the signal from the fire alarm actually lets people through the secured doors. The test is the drop of the lock, not a tick in someone else’s log that the panel ‘went into fire’.
Barriers are the hardest job on this lane. This page sits beside that work.
About Access Control Fire Interface Test
A fire interface test checks that the signal from the fire alarm actually lets people through the secured doors. The test is the drop of the lock, not a tick in someone else’s log that the panel ‘went into fire’.
BS 7273-4 is the usual UK reference for how release mechanisms are actuated. We confirm which doors are on the interface, whether they are fail-safe or fail-secure, and that the break-glass or request-to-exit still works when the interface is reset. If the fire alarm itself needs a service visit, that is booked as fire-alarm work, not assumed from this test. We record what released and what did not. The test is POA after we know the door count. Call 07517806082.
- ●Each door on the interface watched while the alarm is triggered
- ●Fail-safe and fail-secure behaviour written down per door
- ●Reset checked so doors re-secure only when they should
- ●Fire-panel servicing quoted separately when it is in scope

Access Control Fire Interface Test FAQ
Will you set the fire alarm into fire?+
Only with the responsible person, and only in the way their panel allows. We do not trip a monitored system without that agreement.
Is BS 7273-4 a product we sell?+
No. It is the code of practice we read the release arrangement against.
What if one door stays locked?+
We leave it flagged, make it safe if we can do so without breaking the fire strategy, and quote the remedial separately. POA.
