About BS 4737

BS 4737 is the historic British Standard many people still associate with intruder alarm systems in the UK. Modern installations more commonly reference PD 6662 and BS EN 50131, but understanding BS 4737 helps when maintaining or upgrading older systems. iComply survey legacy BS 4737-era alarms across Greater Manchester and the North West, advise on compliant upgrade paths and install contemporary systems with clear documentation from our Stockport base.

If your insurance documents or building handbook still mention BS 4737, we translate that into practical recommendations for today’s standards and grades. Many older panels remain serviceable short-term but lack modern signalling, power supervision or parts availability. We can keep them working where sensible, or design a replacement that reuses cabling and improves detection. Facilities managers inherit mixed estates—we standardise reporting and phased upgrades so risk and cost stay controlled. Share any existing certificates or insurer clauses when requesting advice.

  • ●Assessment of legacy BS 4737-era alarm systems
  • ●Maintenance where still viable and safe
  • ●Upgrade design to current UK intruder standards practice
  • ●Documentation suitable for insurers and site records
