About Consumer Unit
A consumer unit (the modern fuse board) is the heart of a domestic or small commercial electrical installation. iComply specifies, upgrades and certificates consumer units across the North West from our Stockport base.
We replace outdated fuse boards with dual-RCD or RCBO consumer units, add surge protection where the risk justifies it, and label circuits clearly for the next inspection. Work is notifiable where required. A consumer unit job is quoted POA after we see the existing board, tails and earthing arrangement — we do not publish invented pound prices.
- ●RCBO or dual-RCD board specifications after survey
- ●Clear circuit labelling and test sheets
- ●Coordination with rewires and EICR remedials
- ●POA — board type and tails decide the quote

Consumer Unit FAQ
Is a consumer unit the same as a fuse board?+
Yes in everyday language. Newer boards use MCBs and RCD/RCBO protection rather than rewirable fuses.
Do I need a new consumer unit or a rewire?+
A board upgrade is sometimes enough. If cables or earthing fail inspection we will say a partial or full rewire is wiser.
What does a consumer unit cost?+
POA after inspection. Enclosure size, RCBO count and any tail or meter-cupboard works change the figure.
