About Fire Alarm Design
Sound fire alarm design underpins category selection, device coverage, sounder levels and cause-and-effect long before cables go in. iComply provide practical BS 5839 fire alarm design support for landlords, architects and contractors across the North West—from Stockport surveys through to installable drawings and equipment schedules. We balance compliance, false-alarm resilience and maintainability so systems are workable for the people who live with them daily.
Design starts with occupancy, building fabric, fire strategy and any existing kit worth retaining. We define system category, coverage of rooms and escape routes, manual call point positions, interface schedules and monitoring needs, then produce documentation installers and building control can follow. For refurbishments we phase detection around occupied areas and contractor programmes. After design approval our installation teams can deliver the works with commissioning and certification under one roof, reducing the gaps that appear when design and install are split across many parties. Early engagement often saves costly redesigns mid-project.

Fire Alarm Design FAQ
Do you design L1, L2, L3 and other BS 5839 categories?+
Yes. Category is selected from risk, building use and the fire risk assessment, then documented so install and verification match the design intent.
Can you redesign after a failed inspection or FRA action?+
We review the FRA and existing installation, then propose targeted design changes—extra detection, sounder levels or interfaces—rather than unnecessary full renewals.
Is design included if iComply also installs the system?+
Design effort is scoped in the quotation. Combined design-and-build packages are available so one team owns the outcome from survey to certificate.
