About Roof AOV
Roof AOVs are smoke vents mounted at roof level to exhaust smoke from stairs, atria or shafts using natural buoyancy. iComply install, weatherproof, commission and maintain roof AOVs across the North West — including safe access planning, actuator service and control-panel integration for residential and commercial buildings from our Stockport base.
Roof works need careful sequencing for weather, fall protection and resident safety. We fit glazed or insulated roof vents, connect drives to the AOV panel, test full opening against design free area and ensure drainage and flashings remain sound. Maintenance includes seal checks, debris clearance around kerbs and motor health. Failed roof vents that leak or seize are repaired or replaced with fixed quotes after inspection, often coordinated with other roof-level life-safety equipment.

Roof AOV FAQ
How do roof AOVs differ from window AOVs?+
Mounting, weathering and often free-area geometry differ; both serve smoke control but need location-specific products and access plans.
Will a roof AOV make the building leak?+
Correct kerb, flashing and seal detailing prevent leaks — poor install is the usual cause of water ingress, which we avoid and can remediate.
How often should roof AOVs be serviced?+
At least as often as the rest of the smoke-control system, with extra attention after severe weather if damage is suspected.
