About Loft Hatch Insulation

Loft hatch insulation treats the hatch as the hole it is: a lid that is insulated and draught-sealed, not a bare board into the loft.

We insulate the lid with a thickness that still lets it close, fit a seal, and check the frame is not leaking loft air into the landing. A hatch in a tight airing cupboard is measured before we add a quilt that stops it shutting. The loft around the opening is pulled back so it does not jam the lid.
